A Magic King Proposal in Disney World, Orlando, FL

Walt Disney Weekend

Our Disney Vacation is a wrap! Although, it didn’t start out as a vacation… it began as a secret trip to Magic Kingdom to photograph Steph’s sister, Tina, get proposed to by her then boyfriend, now fiancé, Rick! We have been keeping this trip a secret for months!!! We are so happy it’s off our chest!

We hid behind the statue of Walt & Mickey at 7:45AM waiting for Rick & Tina to show up. Rick mentioned to us a few days before that he was going to stall Tina so that we could get there before them and would text us when he was in position. Eight O’Clock came and we were still sitting there trying to figure out what time they were going to arrive. Steph texted Tina trying to get some information out of her without tipping her off that we were in Disney. She learned that Rick stalled her and stalled her well. We were there an entire hour early before they arrived at 9:15AM. Better safe than sorry! We would know that they were in position when Rick texted us. Steph’s parents were watching the entire thing play out from behind a few bushes and trees along the perimeter of the center circle where Walt & Mickey stood.

We got the text! We jumped up and walked quickly to the front of the statue. Tina was standing there with Rick. She was looking right at us, but didn’t see us. We walked up even closer, still didn’t see us. We were now less than six feet from her and she still didn’t recognize us! It wasn’t until Josiah said, “Hey Guys!” did she realized we were standing in front of her. “No fricken way!” she said as Rick pulled her aside, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him! She was floored by all of this and that we were there to photograph her proposal! The proposal she’d always wanted. The one she mentioned to us on a double date with her and Rick when they first started dating a year and a half ago. Her dream came true and what better place for that to happen than the place where dreams do come true, Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom!

As the proposal was happening, her parents moved up next to us. Tears were in her mom’s eyes and dad’s smile was stretched across his entire face. Hugs were exchanged by everyone as we congratulated the very joyful Rick & Tina on their engagement!

We hung out with Rick & Tina most of the day. We visited the Hall of Presidents, attended the Festival of Fantasy Parade, along with lunch and some rides with them! It was seriously, the best time!

This was right before the Festival of Fantasy Parade as people were scrambling to find their seats on Main Street! This is one of the best parades we’ve ever seen!

Yes, we did take a selfie while we were driving… but it’s okay since we’re good drivers and it’s impossible to crash. Steph apparently found it a lot fun!

^^ Dad bod before being a Dad^^ Not sure what’s going to happen to Josiah after he becomes a Dad…. but that’s not going to happen for a while, in case you were wondering!

We ended the night with Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show, Wishes! Awesome show!

Our second day we headed to Josiah’s favorite park, Hollywood Studios!

We ate lunch at The Sci-Fi Diner! You eat in old convertibles at a drive-in theater that shows ancient science fiction films that, to be honest, are pretty horrible, but influential to so many other well done sci-fi! Oh, the food is delicious, too!

There was a lot of Star Wars that happened! We can’t wait for them to build the new Star Wars themed section of Hollywood Studios! It is going to be amazing and Josiah might actually explode when he see’s it out of sheer excitement!

We got to see some iconic film characters, do some shopping and then, before we knew it, it was time to leave!

Lastly, we got to meet up with one of Steph’s best friends, Ryan, who was the musical director for a The Wizard of Oz play that a Disney cast member theater organization put on. It was a hilarious show loaded with Disney humor!
