I cannot remember anything about Steph before this moment.. I wish I could but this is my earliest memory of her. I was in 7th grade and we were hiking with our church youth group. I immediately became attached to her. There was just something about Steph that caused me to need to know her. I’m pretty sure I talked her ear off the entire hike.

She was wearing grey t-shirt, greenish pants with white running sneakers. She was funny, cute and perfect. I still can’t explain it but I knew on that day that she would be important to me. I knew it. Life felt better when I was around her. Life felt complete. She had no idea I was crushing on her, and by crushing I mean head over heels.

I didn’t want that day to end but it was coming to a close and a bunch of us went back to our youth leader’s house to hang out. She was there. I separated myself from her a bit because I didn’t want to seem too clingy but all I wanted to do was be next to her and find out who she was.

Little did I know that I would get my wish…
